Introduction
BLC is a Sydney based cruise company which has several cruises running daily/ occasionally on different time slots. Sydney Showboats and Magistic Cruises enjoy a grand reputation for serving up the finest cuisine on Sydney Harbour. Jet cruiser and Sydney things to do are the other brands of BLC. BLC also offers its restaurant for private functions and special event cruises to help celebrate the most special days of the year.
Scenario

BLC already had an online booking system in ASP technology along with 1 or more local booking call centres and retailers. BLC could allocate only a certain number of seats to be sold online because these systems were not integrated with each other.The biggest drawback of the existing system was that it had no scope of further enhancements/ upgrades due to the chosen technology. The system was also non-intuitive and unfriendly for the user.
The system’s major flaw was that it was not integrated with BLC’s other applications that were running in local call centers for local booking.
What eBizneeds did
The Cruise Management System that eBizneeds developed was designed to encompass Internet distribution capability within the core product. The new system is a totally integrated modular web based reservation and Inventory management system.
The system allows passenger reservations to be made directly via the Internet or through telephone based call centers in multiple currencies and then supports this through an extensive backend capable of managing customers, agents, offers, discounts, gift vouchers and so on.
The System also includes graphical user interfaces individually optimised for call centre usage, direct web customers, third party agents plus XML based system access.
